As with many other countries, Nepal is now in Lockdown in response to the Corona Virus Pandemic. As of today, there are only 9 confirmed cases in the country, but we are preparing in case there are more. We have been involved in district response planning, making and sourcing PPE, creating isolation units and a quarantine triage area, and training staff.
One devastating effect on the hospital has been that our revenues are down significantly due to patients staying home! This will cause many problems as we try to continue to pay staff and be here to serve.
Here in Tansen, we are seeing a huge decrease in patient numbers, so that patient income is down by 80-90%, a shortfall across Tansen and Okhaldhunga hospitals of over USD 300,000 a month during lockdown!
The United Mission to Nepal has launched an appeal - Save our Hopsitals - COVID-19 Appeal. Please have a look to watch the video and learn more.
